As organizations grow, they may not even recognize a point at which they need to outsource some functions until some kind of event signals the need. Payroll services are one example, and accounting services are another.

Maybe the paychecks aren’t ready one day, or the IRS wants to conduct an audit. When it comes to managed services, several signals can let management know it is time to outsource … they just need to recognize them as such. The following are several events or issues that point to looking for outside help.

  1. Lack of In-House Expertise: Maybe your IT staff handled it all when you founded the company but don’t have the skills or expertise to manage and maintain your tech infrastructure effectively.
  2. Frequent IT Issues: Downtime, data breaches, or other serious problems are significant red flags you need help. A managed service provider (MSP) can help ensure these issues are minimized or eliminated going forward.
  3. High IT Costs: Maintaining your IT infrastructure in-house can be expensive. Outsourcing can actually save you money.
  4. Free Up Resources: You need to focus on your core business. If you and your staff are spending too much time on the nuts and bolts of your IT infrastructure, it’s time to consider managed services.
  5. Security: We don’t need to tell you that cybersecurity threats are rising, and compliance with data protection regulations is becoming ever more critical. If your IT staff is struggling to stay on top of it all, don’t take risks that can have a devastating impact on your business. A managed services provider can handle it all for you.
  6. Scalability: Maybe one of the reasons you’re struggling with IT issues is because the business has grown. If continued growth is part of the plan, ensuring your IT infrastructure can scale with you is vital. Don’t let it get in the way of your expansion plans. Bring in a managed services provider partner to ensure your technology will keep pace with your goals.
  7. Data Backup & Recovery: You probably have some data backup system, or maybe you don’t. It only takes one incident, just one, to cause a disaster. An MSP can quickly set you up with a robust backup system and disaster recovery solution.
  8. Round-the-clock support: If your in-house team is complaining about late-night emergency calls or being distracted by minor, yet necessary, fixes, know that a managed services provider can handle all of that for you. Your IT team will thank you.

Other reasons to consider outsourcing some or all of your IT functions to a managed services provider include employee productivity, budget forecasting, compliance, and strategic planning. Still, the above list covers the leading reasons businesses cite when deciding.

Did you hear that POTS (plain old telephone service) lines are going away at a rapid pace?  Why is that?  In 2019, the FCC issued Order 19-72A1 which allowed service providers in the US to stop selling and maintaining copper telephone lines if they chose to do so. The FCC now reports that action caused the number of U.S. POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) lines to decline from 122 million in 2010 to about 36 million in 2021.

In the past all telephone services were hard-wired to copper lines.  In addition to providing phone service for businesses and home the lines also served in other ways.  Phones in elevators, fax machines, fire alarms and more. The benefit was, even if the electrical power was out, the phone would still operate in the elevator or for the fire or security alarm.

The industry has changed a great deal over the past decade with new technologies like VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and fixed wireless, leading to fewer choices for POTS lines, hence driving up the cost for old school technology even more, sometimes as much as double or triple.

There are multiple reasons for businesses to transition from the old to the new, such as VoIP phones.  Cost efficiency, remote-friendly and scalable are just three.

If your business is still using POTS lines, it is a good time to move on, before your phone bill goes up, again.  Keep in mind, the new systems are operated via a dedicated wireless network.  And support your needs such as following:

  • Security Alarm Panels
  • Building Entry Phones
  • Fire Alarm Panels
  • Essential Phone Lines*
  • Elevator Phones
  • Fax Machines
  • Public Safety Phones
  • Point-Of-Sale Systems

 *Subject to certain restrictions.

BOTTOM LINE WHAT ARE THE KEY BENEFITS?

Value: You’ll save money on your monthly phone bill

Backup Battery: Most keep operating for a number of hours during power failures

Flexible Deployment Options: The systems can be configured to provide LTE failover for mission-critical VoIP lines.

Life-safety compliant: Built as an MFVN-compliant network so traffic doesn’t traverse the public internet.

All-inclusion solution: Hardware, data service, and phone service from one solution provider; “no surprises” monthly rates.

Don’t wait; this is the kind of decision better made sooner rather than later.  Call Inverse Technology Solutions today to talk about the best solution for your unique business needs.  We’ll help you get rid of those “plain old telephone service” lines. 800-854-2444 or visit our website, www.inversetech.com for more information.
